When Attorney Andrew Sacks started his legal career with a focus on personal injury litigation in Philadelphia, it quickly become clear to everyone in the legal community that he was destined for great things. Before much time was passed, he was tackling work for large-scale labor unions and earning a growing reputation. In 1994, he was already ready to launch his first law firm, which is now known as Sacks Law, LLC.

Mr. Sacks’ efforts and skill were refocused to more complex forms of litigation, difficult cases that most other attorneys did not feel ready to handle. This included helping the people of New Orleans file lawsuits against oil companies who had defiled their property with toxic contaminates. Naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) litigation, which is used in all manners of environmental and toxic torts to this day, was arguably fronted initially by Mr. Sacks’ efforts.

In his decorated legal career, he has achieved a verdict greater than $1 billion dollars not once, but twice, including a case that broke headlines around the world against ExxonMobil as well as a case against the tobacco industry that resulted in a settlement of over $2 billion. Mr. Sacks represented the European Union, its Justice Department, the FBI, and 25 member countries, and Colombia and all its Departments. The litigation against Philip Morris and all the tobacco companies in the world spanned 22 years.

Out of all the United States attorneys who have ever practiced law, an incredibly small number as managed to win just one billion-dollar settlement. Indeed, this rare and prestigious honor is the driving force behind The Billion Dollar Lawyers Association and its importance.

Other than being renowned for his work in environmental contamination litigation, Mr. Sacks and the rest at Sacks Law, LLC are also proud partners to the American Trade Association for Cannabis and Hemp (ATACH). Together, they are working towards legalizing medical marijuana in Pennsylvania, and possibly the rest of the country, as well as protecting attorneys who represent parties in the cannabis industry. They are driven by intriguing results surrounding the drug’s ability to safely treat lupus, among other diseases.
